Nestled just off the beaten path at 574 Pine Grove Rd in Bluemont, VA, Pine Grove Restaurant is a beloved American and breakfast eatery that perfectly captures the warmth and charm of a classic country diner. From the moment you step onto the porch, where many diners enjoy their meals alongside friendly pups, you sense this is a place rooted deeply in community and comfort.
Pine Grove’s menu is a heartfelt celebration of traditional Americana with hearty portions and fresh, locally sourced ingredients that shine through every dish. Whether you’re craving a morning feast or a satisfying midday meal, their breakfast platters and classic diner dishes never disappoint.
Start your day with their famed French Toast — golden, crisp edges dusted with powdered sugar, fluffy on the inside, and perfectly paired with syrup that’s just the right level of sweetness to awaken your senses. Or dive into the soul-nourishing Biscuits and Gravy that brings together flaky biscuits smothered in savory, creamy sausage gravy that melts in your mouth. For a meaty yet elegant start, the Ham and Cheese Omelet is a crowd favorite, boasting fluffy eggs folded over smoky ham and melted cheese.
Lunch offers equally tempting options like the Sizzler Steak Sub, layered with tender steak and fresh toppings enveloped in a toasted bun, or the comforting Meatloaf topped with gravy, a true taste of home-cooked nostalgia at a satisfying $14.95. Don’t miss their hand-cut onion rings – crispy, golden, and perfectly seasoned – repeatedly named a must-have by regulars.
Warm beverages like rich coffee, creamy hot cocoa, and freshly squeezed juice further enhance the dining experience. Service here feels like catching up with old friends; friendly servers are attentive without being intrusive, often creating moments that linger long after your meal ends, as one diner fondly remembers extra bacon treats for their dogs and repeated fresh coffee refills.
What sets Pine Grove apart isn’t just the food but the genuine hospitality and the unmistakable feeling of “home” it provides. Whether you’re stopping by for a celebratory breakfast after a wedding or fueling up before a vigorous hike in the surrounding Virginia hills, this restaurant embodies the best of small-town warmth and down-to-earth flavors.
Food at Pine Grove Restaurant isn’t just a meal—it’s a comforting, soul-satisfying experience. It invites you to slow down, savor every bite, and create memories around a table full of hearty plates and good company. If you’re looking for a truly authentic American breakfast or lunch stop that feels like a cherished secret, Pine Grove Restaurant is a discovery worth making.
There was a restaurant that I used to go occasionally, and when I heard it got bought out I wasn’t too happy. However, many of the employees worked there now work here with the same menu! This restaurant is a little out of the way since there is no advertisement along the roadside (but the food will make up for it!) If you’re going to come to Pine Grove you have to get the onion rings. Why you may ask… the reason is they make it out of funnel cake batter! This restaurant is a little whole in the wall, but it’s clean and good homemade cooking. I ordered the Blue Ridge Burger and it comes with onion rings, blue cheese, and bacon. I absolutely loved it! My family members ordered the chop sirloin and the chicken salad sandwich. They both enjoyed their meal. Like I said… if you plan to eat here you must get the onion rings! I’ll definitely be back. Stopped for breakfast and ate on the porch as we had our two small dogs. Service and food were great. We had the Big Breakfast, western omelette and 2 coffees. Our server brought out extra bacon for the puppies and checked on us several times to see if we wanted anything. She brought fresh coffee a couple of times. All in all it was a great experience.
Love this country restaurant. Phylis, the owner, is a long time local. Great place to stop for a breakfast after a wedding and before a hike! Delicious
The food was absolutely fantastic. We were so happy to stumble upon this gem of a restaurant. Service was great our server was so sweet. They also have really yummy cinnamon rolls as well as great sandwiches and burgers. All the ingredients were very fresh.
Simple but delicious diner style. Some of the best pancakes and French toast anywhere. Sausage gravy is amazing and meat and eggs are all locally raised. Wait times for food can be longer, but it’s worth it.
Solid little breakfast spot. Not very crowded on a Friday morning. Western omelet was great and well filled. French toast had a great flavor profile. Pancakes were not too remarkable. The sausage was top notch though, would recommend that.
A wonderful brunch at the Pine Grove Restaurant. This really is a gem not to miss. My wife had the garden omelette which was delicious and perfect, I had the “Big Breakfast” with chipped beef sausage gravy and biscuits, country sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs and home fries. So good! Five stars!
